A Learning Place

Supporting you on your journey

Welcome!  We hope to meet you in person soon...

A Learning Place (Alp for short) is a small organisation dedicated to supporting learners who need a little help.

We understand how distressing it can be for you and your family if you are struggling to attend school or college.

Our lovely Waterbeach Centre offers part-time placements for young people for whom mainstream education is not working.

Our staff comprises qualified and experienced English, Maths and Science Teachers, skilled Learning Support Assistants and Tutors, plus our beautiful wellbeing dogs. We are a supportive environment where learners achieve academically.

We can support learners at various levels- including those working towards GCSEs. Between us, we have had decades of experience and have helped many young people to flourish.

Alp is a safe learning space and our caring team will support you wherever you are in your journey. Whatever your attainment level; whatever the gaps in your learning, our gentle, learner-centred approach will help you to access and enjoy education.

Testimonials

What our learners and their parents/carers say:

"Thank you so very much for every single one of your efforts with my daughter.  I cannot begin to express the incredible impact you have had on her life and I am so very grateful to have found you, your skills, expertise and unique understanding of the situation, the system and how to support her."

"It's learning but in a much less stressful way. I've never liked school or learning but this is just an amazing low stress and low anxiety way to learn and instead of being awake all night because of being anxious and instead of crying on my way in like I did in mainstream I actually find myself enjoying it and being excited!"

"Carry on doing the wonderful work you do. The young people will never know how lucky they are to have such a wonderful working environment. Thank you so much for everything you have done. My son would love to tell me about all the wonderful work and activities he did that day! You gave him the chance to get back to the person he was. He has thrived being with ALP. "
